Based on the skin condition you want to correct as well as the size of the treatment area, the FotoFacial session can last approximately 20 minutes. Even for treatment of a large area, the session doesn’t exceed 45 minutes.
While the vast majority of our patients could return to their daily routine immediately after the treatment, a few have reported temporary pinkness and darker brown spots for about 12 hours following the FotoFacial session. Take note that both follow-up symptoms are normal signs of recovery.
More often than not, you will need between four and six FotoFacial sessions in order to obtain the desired results. However, since every person’s skin is unique, we want to point out that the optimal number of treatment sessions will be established by Dr. Gerstman after a thorough consultation.
The level of discomfort during the procedure varies from patient to patient. As most of our patients point out, the most common sensation you could experience is feeling a hot pinch at the treatment site. However, the sensation doesn’t last more than a fraction of a second, nonetheless Dr. Gerstman applies a topical anesthetic to make the experience more comfortable.
FotoFacial is a form of Intense Pulse Light (IPL), a radical new treatment that addresses a wide variety of skin conditions, ranging from lines and wrinkles to blemishes, rosacea, and brown spots resulted from sun damage.
It is necessary to mention that most patients will experience a noticeable improvement in the skin texture and gradual lightening of the pigmented areas after each FotoFacial session. Check out our Fotofacial before and after photos to see what kind of results others have experienced.
