Say goodbye to the effects of sun damage, hyper pigmentation, and rosacea. With the innovative IPL Photofacial by NYC’s very own Dr. Leslie Gerstman, achieving dewy, radiant, and youthful skin is easier than ever.
What is IPL Photofacial?
An IPL Photofacial is a non-invasive, no downtime procedure to correct virtually any superficial blemish. It uses the remarkable technology Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), which restores skin through gentle light and electric energies.
This is different from a laser treatment, which uses only one wavelength of light. An IPL Photofacial uses broad-spectrum light, which targets multiple skin layers.
The treatment causes collagen and blood vessels below the epidermis to constrict, which then reduces redness, discoloration, and age lines. IPL Photofacial does so without harming healthy cells, allowing you to resume your daily activities immediately.
It also involves minimal discomfort. And while there may be redness and swelling after treatment, it will disappear shortly.
The treatment transforms red, blotchy skin into a radiant complexion; rosacea, age spots, freckles, acne, and sun damage are no match for this rejuvenating treatment. It can also reduce the appearance of mild acne scars, fine lines around the mouth, and dark circles around the eyes.
How Long Does IPL Photofacial Last?
The treatment itself lasts about 20 to 45 minutes. In addition, you may need around 4 to 6 sessions to obtain the desired results.
If you’re looking for a refreshed appearance and healthy skin without the bed rest, an IPL Photofacial in our NYC office may be the perfect option for you. Call today for an appointment with Dr. Leslie Gerstman.

Using Syneron’s revolutionary eMax laser, Medical Aesthetics’ FotoFacial treatments are a safe and effective way to get rid of brown spots, broken capillaries, spider veins, red blotches, and signs of rosacea off your skin. We invite you to harness the gentle powers of light and electric energies for a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance.
Based on the skin condition you want to correct as well as the size of the treatment area, the FotoFacial session can last approximately 20 minutes. Even for treatment of a large area, the session doesn’t exceed 45 minutes.
While the vast majority of our patients could return to their daily routine immediately after the treatment, a few have reported temporary pinkness and darker brown spots for about 12 hours following the FotoFacial session. Take note that both follow-up symptoms are normal signs of recovery.
More often than not, you will need between four and six FotoFacial sessions in order to obtain the desired results. However, since every person’s skin is unique, we want to point out that the optimal number of treatment sessions will be established by Dr. Gerstman after a thorough consultation.
The level of discomfort during the procedure varies from patient to patient. As most of our patients point out, the most common sensation you could experience is feeling a hot pinch at the treatment site. However, the sensation doesn’t last more than a fraction of a second, nonetheless Dr. Gerstman applies a topical anesthetic to make the experience more comfortable.
FotoFacial is a form of Intense Pulse Light (IPL), a radical new treatment that addresses a wide variety of skin conditions, ranging from lines and wrinkles to blemishes, rosacea, and brown spots resulted from sun damage.
It is necessary to mention that most patients will experience a noticeable improvement in the skin texture and gradual lightening of the pigmented areas after each FotoFacial session. Check out our Fotofacial before and after photos to see what kind of results others have experienced.
